Certificate Course in Journalism
A six month Certificate Course in Journalism and Mass Communication is being offered by Bharati College from this year. The course is supported by the University Grants Commission under its Career Oriented Courses Scheme, which has also provided a small grant under the XIth Plan to build the required infrastructure to run this course.
The objective of the course is to provide handsome training in Reporting different Mass Media, Editing, Advertising and Public Relations, Corporate Communication and Video Production. This will prepare th estudents for gainful employment in the field of Mass Communication.
The course will run from July to December 2009, with 3 hours modules, 3 days a week (Mon/Wed/Fri) from 2.30 to 5.30 p.m. Practical work will be schedule for Saturdays. The course will consist of 6 papers.
Course Content
| Paper I: | Mass Media and Society: understanding mass media; present status and challenges; influence of media on society; development and environmental issues. |
| Paper II: | Reporting and Editing: concepts and practice. |
| Paper III: | Video Location Production and Electronic News Gathering: basic principles and techniques of visual media production. |
| Paper IV: | Electronic Media: producing and planning news, laws and ethics. |
| Paper V: | Advertising, PR and Corporate Communication: role of advertising in mass media; creativity and brand management. |
| Paper VI: | Web Journalism and Design: graphics; design layout; internet research; using page maker; dreamweaver etc,. |
Selection Procedure
Entrance Exam and Interview:The entrance exam will test the students in proficiency in language (English/Hindi); General Knowledge; media awareness; the ability to observe and analyse events and creativity.
The written exam will be followed by an interview. The weightage for written exam will be 80% and for the interview 20%.

Evaluation Procedure
- 80% attendance is mandatory. Students will not be allowed to sit for the final examination if they fail to meet this requirement.
- Since great emphasis is placed on practical work. 50% weightage will be for project/practical work.
- The scheme of examination will be as follows:

Certification
At the end of the course a Certificate will be issued by the Bharati College, University of Delhi.
