Independence Day Celebration at Bharati College NCWEB Centre

70th Independence Day of the nation was celebrated at the Bharati College NCWEB Center on 14th August 2016, 11 am onwards (during the break), in the central lawns at the unique initiative of the Teacher In Charge Dr. Saloni Gupta. All the teachers and students of the center gathered in the waterproof tent erected at the central lawns to join in the celebrations. The program compered by Dr. Savita Jemini of the Hindi Department began with hoisting of the National Tricolor by the College Principal Dr. Sandhya Jain, followed by singing of the National Song and the National Anthem. Dr. Sandhya in her opening address to the gathering, reminded us about the immense significance of the day and the great sacrifices made by the our national leaders as well as martyred revolutionaries and soldiers in achieving independence

 

Thereafter, a brief cultural program with a song and dance performance by the students was presented. A faculty member, Dr. Rajinder Singh also sang a patriotic song to mark the occasion. Mr. Rajesh Kumar, faculty member, spoke inspiring words in his address to highlight the responsiblity of the young girls in leading the nation to a glorious future as true patriots and aware citizens. Finally, Dr. Saloni Gupta in her motivational and realistic speech spoke about many more frontiers to be conquered in order to achieve true independence: farmer’s rights and security, women’s safety, students’ nationalism to name a few. Dr. Gupta conveyed information about a competition announced by the NCWEB open to all its students from each center to create and submit a 3-minute video on any of the topics: “Mera Bharat”, “Swachch Bharat” and “Meri Aazaadi”, wih the top 10 entries to be rewarded with certifiCates/prizes. On this occasion, she also announced a voluntary donation-based book bank for the students to an enthusiastic response by all the teachers of the centre who donated many of their personal books to the center for the benefit of the
session was held to save remembrances of the remarkable and unique celebrations at the center. Chocolates were also distributed amongst the students and members of the staff. The program ended with a renewed feeling of commitment to the country and was greatly enjoyed by one and all.
